JIT kits do not contain everything a neighborhood evacuation hub will require; rather, they provide guidelines about how to manage, operate, and communicate within an evacuation hub. All materials are designed to be easily understood by the lay community member. JIT kits need not be expensive. Each jurisdiction will determine funding for JIT kits.
A JIT kit includes job aids, maps, contact and communication information, emergency operations plans, signage, and other basic supplies for use during a catastrophic disaster.
A JIT kit also includes guidelines to support a S.A.F.E. Neighborhoods Planning Group (unique to the neighborhood), including how to orient new members and exercises that will refresh the skills of existing members.
